Unveiling the FAQs: Your Top 5 Questions Answered by Air-Way Global Manufacturing
Monday, June 24, 2024
In the world of hydraulic fittings and adapters, there are a variety of questions we often get asked, from both our customers and those just interested in learning more. At Air-Way Global Manufacturing, we pride ourselves on providing clear, concise answers to our customers’ most pressing inquiries.
In this blog, we’ll dive into the top five questions we’re frequently asked, providing the insights and information you need.
1. Can You Identify a Fitting Based on the Description I Provide?
Many times, it is straightforward, and we can identify with a simple description, and measurements. Other times, we may request a photo, or more detailed measurements.
Where it can become tricky is when we are asked for a British Standard Parallel Pipe (BSPP) end. There are several specifications that include these threads, such as BS, JIS, and ISO 1179. These fittings are not interchangeable and require confirmed identification before we can confidently identify the type of fitting you need.
2. What is My Pipe Fitting Pressure Rating?
The rated working pressure for any fitting is based on the lowest pressure-rated fitting end. For example, a fitting may include one -4 (1/4") male 37-degree tube end and one -6 (3/8") male pipe end.
From the tables here, the rated working pressure for the -4 male 37-degree tube end is 34.5 MPa (5,000 psi) and the rated working pressure of the -6 (3/8") male pipe end is 21 MPa (3,000 psi).
Therefore, the rated working pressure of the fitting would be 21 MPa (3,000 psi). Please keep in mind, however, that pressure ratings for steel tubing differ.
3. Can I Get a Part From You Off the Shelf That is Similar to A Description or Drawing I Have?
This depends on what the part is and if we have it in stock. However, our engineers are always available to discuss custom projects and applications and can provide CAD drawings, models, and more for custom parts.
In fact, we can usually ship out standard parts within 1 business day and finish custom designs quickly if necessary!
4. Why Didn’t My Part Come With an O-Ring?
O-Rings are considered a universal sealing device. However, if you noticed that your part didn’t come with an O-Ring, it’s because your print or part number simply did not call for one.
The O-Ring Face Seal (ORFS) style fitting is designed for higher pressure fluid power applications and provides a connection between steel tubing and SAE J1926 / ISO 11926-1 O-Ring Ports. The Style B, Dovetail Groove design aids in O-Ring retention.
5. What Are Your Lead Times and Dock Dates for International Shipping on Hydraulic Fittings?
While shipping and delivery times vary based on a variety of factors, Air-Way Global Manufacturing prides itself on providing some of the quickest and most efficient shipping times in the industry.
Many times, we can ship out your part within 1-2 business days of ordering and also have the capability to finish custom designs quicker than most.
