Being an ISO 9001:2008 Certified Hydraulic Fitting Manufacturer
Wednesday, August 31, 2016

Air-Way Global Manufacturing is a leader in the hydraulic fittings industry due to our decades of professional expertise, quality management approach and global presence. Serving as an approved supplier to some of the largest and most recognized Original Equipment Manufacturers in the world, Air-Way has the certifications to reflect this imminent industry presence.
One of these certifications includes the International Organization of Standardization (ISO) 9001-2008, which validates Air-Way’s quality management system. What does this certification mean for our business and its customers? What is its importance?
First and foremost, what is a quality management system?
According to ISO, a quality management system, “describes the set of procedures an organization needs to follow in order to meet its objectives.” In some small organizations, there may not be an official system, just ‘our way of doing things,’ that is mostly kept in the heads of the staff. As a large organization, we document procedures and processes to ensure everyone is clear on how things are to be done. Utilizing documented processes and standards of operation are key to our quality management, and ultimately the products our customers rely on.
Why does an effective quality management system matter?
In general, a quality management system benefits all parties, and allows for greater efficiency. The primary focus of quality management is to exceed our customer expectations and requirements through increased customer value, satisfaction and loyalty.
A quality management system benefits the company by establishing a clear-cut purpose, and a plan to reach the organization’s objectives and goals. As a result, greater communication, coordination and the capability to deliver quality products will occur.
A quality management system benefits employees by empowering and engaging people at all levels of the company to ensure that efficiency and effectiveness is a top priority. This is completed by enhanced involvement, personal development, trust, satisfaction and collaboration of all employees.
What is the ISO 9001:2008 Certified Manufacturer certification?
The ISO 9001:2008 certification is a distinction that proves quality management systems within the company have been met. According to ISO, the requirements to receive this certification are the following:
- The organization, “needs to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide product that meets customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements,”
- And, the organization, “aims to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for continual improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.”
In 2014, 33,008 ISO 9001 certificates were given in the United States, and 609,294 certificates were given worldwide.
